How To Choose Free Web Host?
Choosing a web host is like to choose your partner of life. You must choose carefully or you will regret and divorce. Well for someone love is blind, but don't be blind to choose free web host you need. The worst you choose wrong, you will make your works in vain.
1. Are they have any advertising?
Most free web hosts will put advertising on your website. Why? Because they need to cover the costs of providing your site and the free web space and associated services. Some hosts require you to place a banner on your pages, others display a window that pops up every time a page on your site loads, while still others put an advertising frame on your site. There is really no hard and fast rule which is to be preferred, some people hate a pop-up window, other webmasters dislike having to stuff banner codes onto their pages, and many people cannot stand an advertising frame (which may cause problems when you submit your website to search engines). Whichever method is used, check that you're comfortable with the method. Some are offering the free advertising, no pop up or frame. How they cover the costs? They will cover the cost with providing advertising on they sign up page or in control panel area. But no advertising free web host or web space are not really good to put your web in. Why? Because most of them can't stay a year more.
2. How big the web space?
You should figure out how big the web space you need for your web. Is your web contain a lot of video? A lot of images? or just a plain text with small image? Some web need only 5Mb so you don't need to choose big space one if you have small site only.
3. Is there a FTP Access?
If you design your web and need to upload, you must choose free web host support ftp access. Because it will make your jobs easily and save you a lot of time then to upload it one by one through web. If you just need to build website using the support of online builder free web host, maybe the ftp access not necessary.
4. What kind of file type they allow and how much the file size limitation?
Watch out this one rule. Some free host limit the size limit of 200KB and that is too small size for some web scripts. Some allow php and not support asp so you must really see their term before sign up. Choose the criteria fix your needs.
5. How Reliability and speed of access they offer?
This part is the most important part. A site that always down will lose a lot of visitor. The visitors will think that your site are closing door. Slow access will make visitors run away too because they have no patient to wait your web to loading fully.
6. How much the bandwidth?
Nowadays, many free web hosts make a limit on the amount of traffic your website can use per day and per month. This means that if the pages (and graphic images) on your site is loaded by visitors beyond a certain number of times per day (or per month), the web host will disable your web site (or perhaps send you a bill). It is difficult to recommend a specific minimum amount of bandwidth, since it depends on how you design your site, your target audience, and the number of visitors you're able to attract to your site. In general, 100MB traffic per month is too little for anything other than your personal home page and 1-3GB traffic per month is usually adequate for a simple site just starting out. Your mileage, however, will vary.
